Awards success in 2021

The 2021 awards season has been a huge success for us, with not one but two award wins, and we couldn’t be happier!
We won Gold in the Cornwall Tourism Awards, and most recently, Silver in the South West Tourism Excellence Awards. These accolades are a credit to our hard working team and loyal customers.
Cornwall Tourism Awards
Celebrations first started here at Polmanter in January, when it was confirmed that we had been selected as one of the finalists in the Cornwall Tourism Awards ‘Camping and Caravanning Park of the Year’ category.
It was a great way to kick off the year, after working really hard on the entry during a busy summer season in the middle of a global pandemic!
With lockdowns back in force for the scheduled awards ceremony on Thursday 25th February, the organisers transformed it into a virtual event. Finalists were encouraged to continue with the traditional black tie dress code, which saw Phill and I don our evening dress in the middle of the day, but with a twist – slippers instead of shoes! We also received pre-delivered packages of food and drink to help get the celebrations underway.
When it was announced that we had been awarded Gold for our category, we were thrilled! To receive the top accolade, after one of the toughest years our family has ever known, was wonderful.
We know how fantastic our team are, as they continue to help us deliver truly five-star holidays, so this award is a real credit to them too, as well as our loyal customers who return year after year, and encourage new guests to come and experience what Polmanter and St Ives has to offer.
Our category also saw Mena Farm, Bodmin awarded Silver and Treloy Touring Park, Newquay won Bronze.
South West Tourism Excellence Awards
As a Gold winner in the Cornwall Tourism Awards, we were put forward for consideration in the same category by a regional judging panel and received confirmation in March that we were finalists again, but this time in the South West Tourism Excellence Awards.
We were still on a high from our Gold award, so to receive this regional recognition was amazing!
It was back to the wardrobe for another black tie outfit for the virtual ceremony on Thursday 22nd April, and with warmer weather this time, we chose flip flops for our foot attire! We also celebrated the event with our son William and the team, who joined us safely and socially distanced for a brief moment to hear the organisers announce us as Silver winners. This really was the icing on the cake!
The Gold award for Camping and Caravanning Park of the Year was given to South Lytchett Manor Caravan and Camping Park in Dorset, with Mena Farm in Bodmin being awarded Bronze.
Adding to our achievements
It’s a real honour to be recognised amongst not only leading tourism businesses in Cornwall, but across the South West. We’re extremely proud to add these two awards to our collection of accolades, including Gold awards in both the Cornwall and South West Tourism Awards in 2018/19 and a Tripadvisor 2020 Travellers Choice’ award.
We are grateful to organisers of both the Cornwall and South West Tourism Awards, for going the extra mile to organise award ceremonies despite the challenges. Everyone’s been under such a lot of pressure recently, so to be able to relax and enjoy each other’s achievements was a real treat.
