Holidaying with your EV in St Ives

15th January 2024

More UK drivers are buying electric and hybrid vehicles than ever before. Charging stations are popping up all over the place, from our local supermarkets to petrol stations and now you can find them here at Polmanter!

With EV charging units fitted for each of our luxury self catering properties, and charging spaces beside reception for our touring park guests, let us help you start planning your EV holiday in St Ives.

We understand that holidaying with an EV can have its challenges – especially in an area you’re not familiar with. So as electric car owners ourselves, we want to offer some reassurance.

Planning your EV journey to Polmanter

We’ve had our share of nervous journeys, watching the battery gauge, but thankfully charging options en route to Cornwall are gradually improving. We find Zap-map is a great tool for planning your trip.

Cornwall Services, 43 miles from the park, provides 4 Ecotricity sockets, and 30 miles from Polmanter, the Shell fuel station, at Carland Cross can offer a final rapid top-up with Shell Recharge on your journey.

Our closest rapid charging option is St Erth railway station, 4.8 miles from Polmanter. Both car parks have 50kW GeniePoint charging available.

Tesla drivers may enjoy planning a stop at Darts Farm, near Exeter for plentiful Tesla supercharging plus a fantastic farm shop (114 miles to go!), or at the Arundel Arms, Lifton which also offers several supercharging bays 70 miles from Polmanter. Now there are also 8 shiny new Superchargers just off the main A30 between Camborne and Redruth, less than 10 miles from Polmanter. (N.B There are no non-Tesla chargers at either stop)

EV charging at Polmanter

You’ve got nothing to worry about when you’re parked up here on site in our self-catering properties. Our modern, stylish apartments and cosy cottage, each have a dedicated 7kW electric car charging socket. You can stay plugged in all night and be ready to explore with full charge the next day.

For touring guests, we have installed EO charging sockets in dedicated spaces behind reception, which can deliver up to 22kW. (A 50p/kWh will apply for this service). We recommend downloading the EO App (iPhone / Android) and setting up an account before setting off on your holiday, and then it is a simple scan of a QR code after plugging in to start your charge.

Offering this service, which is still such a rarity among local holiday accommodation, is part of our commitment to sustainability.

Explore West Cornwall and further afield in your EV

Located on the outskirts of St Ives, Polmanter is the perfect location to explore West Cornwall. In 10 minutes, you can be on the A30 and heading towards many of the local attractions (and back!) on a full charge.

We appreciate each model varies but here is an idea of the locations you can visit and their distances from Polmanter.
